User Roles and Permissions in Newired Portal

Modified on Thu, 29 Oct at 10:02 AM

Newired Portal provides two user roles: Administrator and Author. A user can have one or both roles.

Administrator

The Administrator role provides full Portal administration access. Administrators can:

  • Create and manage Sites and content.
  • View the user list.
  • Create, edit, deactivate, and delete users.
  • Assign Administrator and Author roles.
  • Reset another user's password.
  • Delete images from the Uploads gallery in Newired Editor.
  • Schedule Content Delivery Cleanup in the Portal.

Author

The Author role is intended for creating and managing content. Authors can:

  • Create and manage Sites and content.
  • Edit their own profile information and change their own password.
  • View the Content Delivery Cleanup configuration.

Authors cannot:

  • View or manage the user list.
  • Create, edit, deactivate, or delete other users.
  • Assign or change user roles.
  • Delete images from the Uploads gallery in Newired Editor.
  • Schedule Content Delivery Cleanup.

Users With Multiple Roles

When both roles are selected, the user receives the permissions of both Administrator and Author. At least one role must be assigned to every user.

Protected System Account

The user with the login admin is the protected system account. Its login, roles, and active status cannot be changed, and the account cannot be deleted.

For procedures, see the support article Managing Users and Roles in Newired Portal.
