Sometimes you may not need to/ want to link the guidelines in a step to a specific page element or url. In such cases, you can opt to create the new Step as a modal dialog ("Modal"). A Modal Step interrupts the user's workflow and does not allow them to continue either until the user responds or until the Modal times out (depending on how it is defined in the Editor).
To create a new Modal dialog, follow the steps below.
Click on the Add icon and choose Add Modal:
This action adds the new Modal Step at the end of the Steps list. To insert a new Modal Step in the list of existing Steps, hover over the Step after which you want to insert the modal step, click on the plus (+) icon, and select Add Modal.
The New Modal dialog has fewer configuration options than the New Step dialog.
Modal Steps Transitions
Only two transition options are available for Modal Steps:
Button Click: At runtime, the Modal dialog displays a button labeled Next. The user needso click on it to close the dialog box and move onto the next Step, if any are available, or end the Journey if there are no more Steps included.
- Timing: At runtime, there is no user action available. After the interval specified in the Timer field, the dialog closes and moves onto the next Step, if any are available, or ends the Journey if there are no more Steps included.
Modal Dialog size
This option enables you to define the size of the modal dialog displayed to end users when they reach the Step. You can select one of the predefined sizes, or choose the Custom option and specify the size in pixels. The predefined options are:
S - small dialog size
M - medium dialog size
L - large dialog size
X - extra large dialog size
Modal Visibility tab
In this tab you can choose to define simple or complex Rules which control when a Modal step is displayed or hidden. This functionality works the same way as the Visibility Rules described in other sections. Please check Step Visibility Rules.
Modal Step Action
This feature is the same for regular and modal steps. Please check this article.
Modal URL tab
This tab provides the URL of the modal Step, which can be shared with end users to lead them directly to the Journey and that specific modal Step.
